The 2024 Valspar Championship ended with an award for consistency. Peter Malnati was the most consistent player on the Copperhead Course at Inninsbrook Resort, and is also an example of what it means to work hard in professional golf.
The Valspar Championship was the second victory in Malnati’s PGA Tour career, which began way back in 2014. Eight and a half years after winning the 2015 Sanderson Farms Championship, Malnati returns to the winner’s circle.
His performance at the Valspar Championship included 20 birdies and eight bogeys and, perhaps more importantly, served to remind us that there are not only super champions and rising stars on the PGA Tour. Peter Malnati is a reflection of all those players who struggle week in and week out and who, in fact, make up the majority.
This is what Malnati himself said after winning the Valspar Championship (via PGA Tour news service).
“You wonder if you are ever going to do it again. Because it’s hard. And in the nine years since my last year, it’s gotten harder too. If your look the level of talent out here, guys coming out here when they’re 20 years old and they’re ready to play at this stage and they’re SO good… To have this moment [at the Valspar Championship], it just feels so amazing.”
“Obviously, my family believes in me. I’ve got the best caddie. He’s been loyal to me for a long time. Through a lot of downtimes too. I’m just so thankful for my wife. She makes this all possible because life is hard. It’s obviously glamorous at times like this and since this is my dream job and it’s absolutely amazing. But life is really hard too when you’re trying to live this lifestyle and have two kids and be everything you want to be. It’s really hard. My wife has been an absolute rock through all of it…”
This is is why this is the best job in the world. Congrats to @PeterMalnati 💛 !! pic.twitter.com/hhuDetElFB

The excitement does not end here for Malnati, as his victory in the Valspar Championship also opened the doors to The Masters Tournament for the third time in his career.
