Blades Brown is a 16-year-old high school sophomore from Tennessee who has been making waves in the sport. Known for his exceptional talent and determination, Brown has been on the radar in Tennessee for quite some time.
He has won three consecutive TSSAA Division II-AA individual titles and last season set the Tennessee Junior Amateur Championship record for the lowest score in tournament history, finishing at 22-under in 54 holes. In 2023, he became the first player to win Tennessee Boys’ Junior and Men’s Player of the Year honors in the same year, after finishing as co-medalist of the stroke play stage of the US Amateur (he was eliminated later during the match play stage).
Blades Brown’s recent performance at the Myrtle Beach Classic further solidified his position as a rising star in the golf world. The Myrtle Beach Classic featured a challenging course and competitive field. Here, Brown made a significant mark and demonstrated his skill and potential.
Blades Brown’s remarkable performance at the Myrtle Beach Classic
Blades Brown refused to let his PGA Tour debut end after 36 holes. The young golfer caught fire to make the cut at the Myrtle Beach Classic, shooting a 4-under 67 in Friday’s second round to qualify for the weekend. Brown made one bogey and five birdies, four of them on the back nine.
During the moving day, Blades Brown shined again, playing bogey-free with five birdies and climbing notably in the leaderboard. The fourth round was also very good, with three birdies and one bogey. He finished his performance at the Myrtle Beach Classic in T26, with a score of 10-under 274.
Blades Brown received a sponsor’s exemption to play in Myrtle Beach this week while the PGA Tour’s main event, the Wells Fargo Championship, is being played in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is the top-ranked golfer in the Class of 2026, No. 4 in the AJGA rankings and No. 176 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
Brown became the second consecutive 16-year-old to make the cut in a PGA Tour event. England’s Kris Kim did so last week at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Miles Russell, 15, tied for 20th in the Korn Ferry Tour’s Lecom Suncoast Classic last month.
His exemption at Myrtle Beach stems from his record-breaking performance in last summer’s U.S. Amateur. He broke Bobby Jones’ record as the youngest medalist in U.S. Amateur history and tied for first in the stroke-play portion of the tournament. Brown was eliminated in the round of 32 in the match play portion of the tournament, but earned recognition as one of the nation’s top rising stars.
Blades Brown finished ahead of several former PGA Tour winners, including former Vanderbilt and Montgomery Bell Academy star Brandt Snedeker (5-over), Aaron Baddeley (1-under), Ryan Moore (1-under), Bill Haas (1-under) and Kevin Kisner (even-par).
