LIV Golf players turned out in force for the Asian Tour’s inaugural International Series event at Al Mouj Golf in Oman. Those led by Greg Norman stole the show with some of the best performances of the event.
LIV Golf’s Torque GC team member, Carlos Ortiz, won the International Series Oman with a brilliant performance. He finished with a score of 19 under par, four shots ahead of runner-up Louis Oosthuizen, also a LIV player.
Carlos Ortiz started well with seven birdies and one double bogey (5 under) in the first round. He regressed after the second day when he carded three birdies and no bogeys (3 under). He recovered some space on the third day with four birdies and no bogeys (4 under) to start the final round in the top 10.
Ortiz saved his best for last, carding seven birdies and no bogeys (7 under) on Sunday to win the event comfortably. His victory earned him $360,000 and, most importantly, 15,30591 points for the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). This moved him up over 1000 places in the world rankings (from 1286th to 237th).
It was also a great day for the rest of the members of LIV Golf’s Torque GC, all of whom participated in the International Series Oman. Captain Joaquin Niemann finished third, Mito Pereira fourth and Sebastian Muñoz T38.
