Jon Rahm on his reported “regrets” about joining LIV Golf: “They just make sh*t up”

Jon Rahm has become embroiled in an unexpected controversy following a report from Golf Digest suggesting that he regrets joining LIV Golf. Golf Digest’s Jaime Diaz quoted a “Veteran Tour Insider” who said Jon Rahm is experiencing deep regret over his move to LIV:

“I am 100 percent positive that if Jon could give the money back to the Saudis and come back to the tour, he couldn’t write the check fast enough,” the unnamed source said.  Now there are only four times a year when he’s playing that anybody is remotely interested. He thought his stature in the game was secure no matter where he was playing, and it was a bad miscalculation.”

This unexpected declaration has prompted a vigorous discussion about Jon Rahm’s real satisfaction with LIV Golf, a league that continues to elicit diverse opinions within the golf community. However, Rahm has promptly addressed the matter, firmly denying these allegations and reaffirming his dedication to the league.

Jon Rahm’s Response: Dismissing the Rumors

As reported by Pro Golf Critic, during a rain break at the LIV Greenbrier Golf Tournament, Jon Rahm was shown a tweet from Golf Digest’s Jaime Diaz quoting a ‘Veteran Tour Insider’ in a post from NUCLR GOLF on X. He then laughed and said:

“Yea thats why I can’t stop smiling out here. They just make sh*t up. Couldn’t be further from the truth.”

These statements, which were rapidly disseminated on social media, portray a relaxed and confident Jon Rahm, who appears comfortable in his new environment. Despite the criticism and speculation, Rahm has made it clear that he is happy and satisfied with his decision to join LIV Golf.

This response has been interpreted as a strong denial of the claims made in the article and as a message to those who have expressed doubt about his decision.

The statements in Golf Digest and Jon Rahm’s reaction have further intensified the debate about the impact of LIV Golf on the careers of players who decide to join this league. For many, Rahm’s move signified a notable departure from the PGA Tour, a long-standing and esteemed institution in the golf industry. However, Mr. Rahm’s response indicates that, at least for him, the change has been positive.

The Jon Rahm case and the rumors about his dissatisfaction with LIV Golf reflect ongoing tensions in the professional golf industry. Despite Rahm’s continued assertion that he is not dissatisfied, the controversy underscores the challenges and divisions that have emerged since the inception of LIV Golf.

With a substantial contract and a prominent status within the league, Mr. Rahm seems to be firmly committed to his decision, despite the criticism and speculation. However, as with many in the golf industry, his future with LIV Golf and his impact on the sport will remain subjects of intense discussion.
