There are more than a couple of storylines as Cameron Smith and his Ripper GC will be defending their championship, and local Bryson Dechambeau, who starred at SMU and lives in the Grapevine area, is one of several players who live in the area.
Other locals include Dallas residents:
- Torque GC’s Carlos Ortiz
- Sebastian Munoz
Both played at the University of North Texas.
Other Texas residents:
Fireballs GC captain Sergio Garcia (Austin) and his teammate Abraham Ancer (San Antonio)
4Aces GC’s Patrick Reed (Houston)
Ortiz and Jon Rahm Legion XIII’s Tyrell Hatton had career-best performances at the U.S. Open this year. Both tied for fourth in the national championship while the LIV individual points leader is Joaquin Niemann (Torque GC captain) has won four of the first eight events in 2025 (including the previous LIV Golf tournament in Virginia).
Legion XIII is the league leader in points despite Dechambeau’s Crushers winning the last two events on tour.
