Paulina Gretzky reveals death threats after Dustin Johnson’s move to LIV Golf

Dustin Johnson’s wife Paulina Gretzky featured in the first episode of the second season of Full Swing. Gretzky recalled the period following Johnson’s move to LIV Golf, and revealed shocking insights. “People were agressive,” she said.

The second season of Netflix’s documentary series, Full Swing, premiered this Wednesday, March 6. When it touched on LIV Golf and the controversy with the PGA Tour, both Dustin Johsnon and Paulina Gretzky had their moment in the spotlight.

Gretzky told how her family lived with a lot of tension during the first moments, as they even received “death threats”. This was part of what he said (via Golf WRX):

“There were people sending death threats and awful, awful, awful things. People were aggressive, that’s for sure, but that’s when I shut it down for a little bit and I was like ‘I don’t need to look at this, everyone has an opinion on it and fine.'”

Paulina Gretzky also offered her thoughts on the impact Dustin Johnson’s move to LIV Golf has had on her family. Here’s what she had to say (via Golf WRX):

“We have a little bit more time together now since things have changed a little, whereas before it was ‘go go go.’ We have more control now of how we do things. The old life we had; it was ‘I had to take a back seat’ but now it feels like we’re in the front of the plane together flying. It was the right move.”

Dustin Johnson joined LIV Golf for the inaugural 2022 season. Since then, he has been one of the top stars on the circuit, with three individual victories and the season’s individual title in 2022.

    Paulina Gretzky on The Scoop

It has been a very busy week for Paulina Gretzky in the media, because two days ago a new episode of “The Scoop” premiered with she as a guest. “The Scoop” is a show hosted by Claire Rogers and published by Golf.com on its YouTube channel.

Gretsky told in The Scoop a part of the beginnings of her relationship with Johnson, how they met, how they started dating, and even the role that Tiger Woods played in both of them getting to know each other.

Of course, the 15-time major champion played a part in Gretzky and Johnson’s love story accidentally and probably unknowingly. It so happens that Johnson and Janet Gretzky, Paulina’s mother, played together in the Pro-Am event of the 2009 Hero World Challenge, an event hosted by Woods.

It was at that moment that Janet Gretzky asked Johnson if he wanted to meet Paulina and, upon his affirmative answer, she introduced them.

This is how Paulina Gretzky told the story of her first date with her current husband:

“I literally was like, OK, go in sweatpants, sweatshirt, start from the very bottom and then you can blow it out of the water the next time if you really like him. And I did.”

“We had dinner in my house and then the next night he took me out to a date with my dad and one of my best girlfriends, Hannah. I like more like moments like that. You build like a friendship and then it leads into something that will last.”

Gretzky and Johnson got engaged in 2013 and married in 2022. They have two children.
