The PGA TOUR has announced the schedule for the 2025 FedExCup Season, which includes 39 events and promises to deliver heightened drama and competition. In its second year of the reimagined format, the TOUR is committed to providing fans with more head-to-head showdowns between the game’s best players.
With eight Signature Events complementing the four majors, THE PLAYERS Championship, and the FedExCup Playoffs, the 2025 season will challenge players like never before, while delivering must-see moments for golf enthusiasts worldwide.
PGA TOUR: New Challenges and Opportunities
The 2025 FedExCup Season represents the next phase in the PGA TOUR’s evolution towards a more competitive and fan-engaging structure. The schedule commences with The Sentry in Hawaii from January 2-5, followed by 35 additional regular-season events that will challenge the abilities of the world’s top golfers.
The regular season will conclude with the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina, from July 31 to August 3, after which the high-stakes FedExCup Playoffs will commence in August.
PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan highlighted the importance of the new schedule, stating:
“The new schedule and competitive changes introduced in 2024 were significant steps toward creating the best version of the PGA TOUR for our fans and players. Fields were significantly stronger across the board, while the Signature Events provided fans more opportunities to see the PGA TOUR’s best competing head-to-head.”
“As we enter the second year of this reimagined schedule, one thing remains a constant — winning on the PGA TOUR continues to rank among the most difficult and rewarding accomplishments in sport. We are grateful to the entire membership, especially our Player Directors and Player Advisory Council, as well as our tournaments and partners.”
The 2025 season will present players with a challenging schedule that includes stops in 18 states across the United States as well as international locations in Mexico, Canada, Northern Ireland, Scotland, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.
The PGA TOUR is unparalleled in its ability to offer a global stage for competition, and the diverse locations add to the allure and difficulty of securing a spot in the FedExCup Playoffs.
The Battle for FedExCup Points
One of the key features of the 2025 FedExCup Season schedule is the distribution of FedExCup points, particularly in the Signature Events. The eight tournaments feature limited fields and elevated purses, offering 700 FedExCup points to the winner, compared to 500 points in regular events.
This points system guarantees that the leading players are consistently challenged throughout the season, and that each tournament carries substantial weight in the competition for the FedExCup title.
Signature Events such as The Genesis Invitational and the Arnold Palmer Invitational are not only esteemed, but also pivotal in determining the season’s top performers. The Sentry, which opens the season, sets the tone by featuring PGA TOUR winners from the previous calendar year alongside the top 50 members from the 2024 FedExCup standings.
Eligibility for the Signature Events is determined by a variety of pathways, including performance in the Aon Next 10 and Aon Swing 5, current season tournament victories, and top rankings in the Official World Golf Ranking. This multi-faceted approach ensures that the most accomplished players are rewarded for their consistency and success throughout the season.
Host Venues and Global Reach
The 2025 FedExCup Season schedule features a diverse array of venues, each offering unique challenges to competitors. From the iconic fairways of Pebble Beach to the historic greens of Muirfield Village, the TOUR’s choice of host courses enhances the prestige of each event. It is worth noting that the Memorial Tournament, hosted by Jack Nicklaus at Muirfield Village Golf Club, remains one of the most sought-after titles on the schedule.
The international stops on the schedule, including tournaments in Mexico, Canada, and Northern Ireland, demonstrate the TOUR’s commitment to expanding the game on a global scale. These events not only bring the excitement of PGA TOUR competition to new audiences but also test players in different conditions, from the links-style courses of Northern Ireland to the lush fairways of Puerto Rico.
The FedExCup Playoffs, which will crown the season’s champion, consist of three events: the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the BMW Championship, and the TOUR Championship in Atlanta. The Playoffs are designed to reward the season’s most consistent performers while offering high-stakes drama as players compete for the ultimate prize in golf.
