The RBC Canadian Open that took place in Hamilton, Ontario, concluded with a remarkable display of talent and determination. The tournament boasted a total purse of $9,400,000 distributed among the players based on their final standings.

Robert MacIntyre, a talented Scottish left-hander, emerged as the champion of the 2024 RBC Canadian Open. With his father, Dougie MacIntyre, serving as his caddie, Robert held a four-stroke lead going into the final round.

His steady performance paid off, as he carded a 2-under 68 to secure his first PGA Tour title. The 27-year-old MacIntyre finished the RBC Canadian Open at an impressive 16-under 264. Notably, he had previously been part of Europe’s winning 2023 Ryder Cup team and had secured two European Tour victories in the past.

“I’m crying with joy, but I’m laughing because I didn’t think it was possible,” MacIntyre told CBS Sports. “I was going down the last and my dad’s trying to tell me to stay focused and swing smooth because [on Saturday] I got a little bit too fast, but in my head, I wasn’t listening to him – I was like, ‘I want to win this for my dad.’”

Robert MacIntyre’s victory at the RBC Canadian Open was hard-fought, especially with playing partner Ben Griffin hot on his heels. Griffin, who shot a final-round 65, kept the pressure on until the very end. The 18th hole witnessed MacIntyre’s nerve-wracking two-putt for par from 12 feet, securing his one-stroke victory.

Other notable performances at the RBC Canadian Open included Victor Perez of France, who finished third at 14 under after two consecutive rounds of 64. Two-time Canadian Open champion Rory McIlroy also shot a 64 to tie for fourth place with Tom Kim at 13 under.

McIlroy’s history with the RBC Canadian Open added intrigue, having won it in 2019 when it was last held in Hamilton and again in 2022 at St. George’s in Toronto.

The top Canadian finisher was Corey Conners, who tied for his best career finish at the event with a sixth-place finish.
