Social Spotlight : Bino Golf, College Kid turned Social Media Golfer

If you’ve scrolled through golf videos on Instagram or Tik Tok, I can all but guarantee you’ve seen Bino’s face before. He has popularized a series of playing a golf hole every day until he gets to play with Good Good. I would say at this point, it isn’t him that gets to play with Good Good but Good Good gets to play with HIM.

The Social Media golfer, who has more than 138,000 followers and is also a senior at the University of Cincinnati, was introduced to golf as a child, but didn’t take it seriously until a little later. Like many of his generation, he became interested through social media, which is the same way he now shares his content.

Almost Average Golf was lucky enough to catch up with Bino to learn a little more about his life and his relationship with golf:

    Your Name: Jarrett Widdoes

    Location: Cleveland, Ohio

    Years Golfing: 5

    Current Handicap: 18

    Best Round: 78

    —————

Q: Before we talk golf, who is Bino? What do you do for work and fun outside of the golf course?

Bino: “I am a 4th year student at University of Cincinnati graduating this spring. When I’m not at the course (which isn’t very often) you’ll find me spending time with my family, playing spikeball with my friends, or at the gym. I also have a part time job as an analyst but my goal after graduation is to pursue golf content fulltime!”

Q: What inspired you to start playing golf, and how did your journey in the sport begin?

Bino: “I played golf periodically as a teenager but at a very low level. My freshman year of college is when I really fell in love with the game. If you have experienced the golf obsession, you know how addictive it can be. When mine began I started watching videos online of other people playing (people who were actually good at the sport) and I found a group of influencers called Good Good. Their content was so entertaining and changed my perspective of the game, an I wanted to have that same effect on other people. This is what made me make my channel.”

Q: What is your most memorable moment in your golfing career so far?

Bino: “The most memorable moment in my golfing career was watching my uncle get a hole-in-one and I had just put the camera away.”

Q: What is your favorite golf course and what makes it special to you?

Bino: “My favorite golf course is Sugar Bush Golf Club in Garrettsville, Ohio. This course is where I fell in love with the game. With the location being very remote, the tall trees and hilly scenery is absolutely beautiful. This course holds a special place in my heart because I started recording with my dad here.”

Q: Can you share a bit about your training routine and how you work on improving your game?

Bino: “My training routine is very simple. I record my own swing and then compare it side by side with a swing I want mine to look like, Previously I have used Grant Horvat’s swing and compared our specific checkpoints throughout the swing. For me I was able to note immediately that my takeaway was inside causing on over the top downswing, Recording and analyzing has been the easiest way for me to learn about my swing and make the necessary changes to better my game.”

Q: Who would you consider to be the most influential person in your time golfing and how have they impacted your game?

Bino: “A fellow creator Thomas Malacky. He certainly hasn’t made my golf game any better, but he has become a very close friend. We help each other with video ideas, recording, and have big goals and dreams for our videos together!”

Q: Is there anybody you want to shout out?

Bino: “My mom and dad for supporting me and believing in me, and everybody who follows and supports me, it wouldn’t be possible without you guys.”
