The first-ever TGL regular season, which was delayed by one year thanks to an infrastructure issue, is now in the books. Four of the six teams from the first season made the playoffs which will begin on Monday, March 17. They will conclude on March 25. Unfortunately, both founders of the league won’t be a part of the postseason.
TGL founders Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods miss out on postseason

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy had the dream of a technology-based golf league, and they, along with TMRW Sports and SoFi, were able to make that happen in 2025. The league was a relative success, and there’s a general excitement about the future. But when the playoffs come around, neither of those two will play.
Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf Club and Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links GC both missed out, with McIlroy’s squad going winless in all five contests. He, Adam Scott, Hideki Matsuyama, and Keegan Bradley now have the inauspicious title of being the first winless team in league history.
Going into this week, the one-win Jupiter Links team, featuring Tom Kim, Woods, Max Homa, and Kevin Kisner, had a chance to sneak into the playoffs. They needed a win and a New York Golf Club loss. Neither of those results happened.
Both founders had pretty rough seasons with their teams. Jupiter Links won just nine holes throughout the entire contest, somehow winning a match despite being outplayed most of the way. Boston Common won only 15 holes and still went winless.
In the playoffs will be Collin Morikawa’s team LA Golf Club. They grabbed the first overall seed. Ludvig Aberg’s The Bay GC, who are in second after suffering their first defeat of the year this week.
Atlanta Drive Golf Club, featuring Justin Thomas, is now in third place following their outing last week. Xander Schauffele’s New York Golf Club brings up the rear among playoff teams after going 2-2-1.
“After the start we had, just coming into the season, (the goal) was trying to get in the playoffs,” New York’s Rickie Fowler said, according to ESPN. “After going 0-2, we were just trying to dig and find something. We’re just starting to find some form, so it’s good timing.”
The playoff schedule begins on March 17 and 18 with two semifinal matchups. New York will take on LA, and the Bay and Atlanta will play each other. The two remaining teams will play a best-of-three set on March 24 and 25.
