The Masters Tournament will open the “Majors season” in a week and a half and the golf world can hardly wait the tee off. One of the most anticipated details leading up to the event is knowing the full composition of the field, and that is already available.
As of April 2, 88 players have received and accepted an invitation to play at Augusta National Golf Club beginning April 11. There is still a possibility that the field could be expanded to 89 as the winner of the PGA Tour’s Valero Texas Open will also receive an invitation if he is not already exempt.
Before we take a look at the field, let’s address this interesting question: Has anyone received an invitation to The Masters 2024 and not accepted? Well, as surprising as it may seem, the answer is yes, although to tell the truth, it is not as crazy as you might think.
Those who have declined to play in The Masters, despite having a spot in the field, are all former champions who are unable to play due to age or other reasons. They are:
- Tommy Aaron
- Angel Cabrera
- Charles Coody
- Ben Crenshaw
- Nick Faldo
- Raymond Floyd
- Trevor Immelman
- Bernhard Langer
- Sandy Lyle
- Larry Mize
- Jack Nicklaus
- Mark O’Meara

- Tom Watson
- Ian Woosnam
- Fuzzy Zoeller
