Tiger Woods shows off gnarly scar at 2024 US Junior Amateur Championship

Tiger Woods was seen wearing shorts this Monday at the 2024 US Junior Amateur Championship, where he is supporting his son Charlie. Woods wasn’t wearing his usual leg sleeves, revealing the scar he carries from his car accident.
Although Tiger Woods has always maintained that the accident and his injuries were very serious, the scar is an eloquent testament to that seriousness. The huge scar also helps explain the physical difficulties and poor performance he has had.
Comments in support of Tiger Woods were swift, with one user, @LindaRenner11, praising Tiger’s willingness to return to the sport when the severity of the injury prevented him from even walking:

Not sure what other scars he might have as they had to leave leg open after accident/surgeries so that swelling wouldn’t cut off circulation. Extended lack of use would have resulted in severe loss of muscle. It has obviously taken a long time to rebuild that muscle & strength.

Another user, identified as @RussNormandin, commented:

I was able to speak with a doctor who was consulted on Tigers leg at the PNC Championship 2 years ago.

He said if it wasn’t Tiger Woods, they would’ve taken the leg!

They flew in every specialist for each part to work on it 😳

Others, such as Matthew Hills @Mrhills146, acknowledged the seriousness of the injury, having had a similar one, but also condemned the publication of the photo by referring to its author.

Yeah, pretty bad injury, speaking from similar experience. Also weird and totally out of line to sneak the incognito photo!

In recent times, Tiger Woods has struggled with his physical condition, the car accident in Los Angeles in February 2021 being his main enemy since then. Several open wounds in his right leg have prevented a victorious return to the professional circuit, but his will knows no bounds, as evidenced by the fact that this is the first season since the accident in which he has played in the four major tournaments on the professional circuit.

    Tiger Woods’ car accident

When the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of a badly damaged car rollover at 7:21 a.m. local time on February 23, 2021, no one could have imagined it would be the car Tiger Woods was driving.

Firefighters and paramedics pulled him unconscious from the vehicle and immediately transported him to Harbor Hospital-UCLA Medical Center. He had open fractures of the tibia and fibula in the lower part of his right leg, which were stabilized during surgery by inserting a rod into the tibia.
The causes of the accident were under investigation, but it appears that he was driving outside the speed limits of the area. Tiger Woods‘ history with cars and accidents dates back to 2009 when he crashed the Cadillac he was driving into a fire hydrant and then hit a tree in the community of Isleworth near the city of Orlando.
The causes were investigated, but from the outset it was ruled out the possibility of alcohol consumption and that this was the reason for the loss of control of the vehicle.
Even in 2017, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol when he was found asleep at the wheel and pleaded guilty to driving without control. It was later revealed that he had been taking medication while recovering from the accident.
