A college student who’d never golfed before just hit an impressive golf shot. At a college basketball game, a freshman named Trevor Fey stepped up to take a long putt across the length of the court. The Bradley freshman had to putt a ball into a hole more than 94 feet away. He nailed it and won a free car.
College freshman hits golf shot to win car

Trevor Fey is not a golfer, but you’d never guess it based on this video. The college student said, “I never golfed in my life… My mom who entered me said, ‘Hey, you might win a car, go for it.’ I don’t have a car. So I figured I’d try.” Maybe he’ll be headed to the course next with a brilliant putt like that in his pocket.
It is worth noting that a putt on a basketball court is very different from a putt on a golf course. The court is made of hardwood, while a course is grass. The green is sloped and has hills, curves, and more. A basketball court is flat and straight.
All he had to do was hit it straight, where that’s not always possible or useful when putting on the green. Additionally, he had to make it through a hole in a vertical cutout, which is different from making it drop into a cup. Hitting it too hard doesn’t matter as much if it’s straight through a hole when it does make a difference on it going in a cup on the ground.
Still, hitting the ball straight at all is difficult, and he had to know the power with which to putt. That’s something even golfers struggle with at times, so it’s worth some praise. Fey added, “The people around me down at the baseline told me not to think about the shot. I looked at it after I hit it, and it looked right on, going straight. I just knew it was going in all the way.”
Fey did not comment on whether or not he’d be hitting the links eventually, but he might have sparked a new interest in the sport. Driving, hitting with irons, and wedging are all different from putting, though, so that could be a challenge Fey doesn’t expect.
