The 2024 Genesis Scottish Open concluded with a thrilling finish, as Robert MacIntyre clinched his second PGA Tour victory at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland. MacIntyre delivered a standout performance, finishing the tournament at 18-under par with a total score of 262. His decisive moment came on the 72nd hole, where he sank a dramatic 20-foot birdie putt, barely dropping over the front edge to secure a one-shot victory over Adam Scott. The win not only earned MacIntyre the top prize of $1,620,000 but also solidified his position as a formidable player on the PGA Tour.
MacIntyre’s final round at the Genesis Scottish Open was a masterclass in clutch play, particularly over the last five holes, where he went 4-under par, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 16th. His success was also due to some fortuitous moments, including a free drop from a sprinkler head that led to a key birdie.
With his victory, MacIntyre became the first Scot player to win the Genesis Scottish Open since Colin Montgomerie in 1999.
Meanwhile, Adam Scott, who finished at 17-under par for the Genesis Scottish Open, pushed MacIntyre to the limit but ultimately fell short by one stroke. Romain Langasque also had a notable performance, finishing in solo third place at 15-under par, demonstrating the high level of competition throughout the tournament.
Other notable performances at the Genesis Scottish Open included Ludvig Åberg, who was a strong contender throughout the tournament. Åberg’s impressive play saw him shoot 65 or better in the first three rounds, keeping him in the lead or near the top until the final round.
Although he couldn’t maintain his momentum on the last day, his overall performance was commendable, finishing tied for fourth. Rory McIlroy, Sahith Theegala, and Collin Morikawa were among the players who also had strong showings, each tying for fourth place at 14-under par. These performances, along with MacIntyre’s thrilling victory, made the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open a memorable event, showcasing the depth of talent on the PGA Tour.
