Brooks Koepka emerged victorious at the 2024 LIV Golf Greenbrier, securing his second LIV Golf win of the year in a dramatic playoff finish. Held at The Old White Course at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, Koepka clinched the title by defeating Jon Rahm on the par-3 18th hole.
Both players had finished regulation play at 19-under-par 191, with Koepka’s steady par in the playoff earning him the win and a $4 million share of the individual competition’s $20 million purse. This victory marks Koepka’s fifth LIV Golf title, solidifying his dominance on the circuit.
Jon Rahm, who led the LIV Golf Greenbrier after 36 holes following an impressive 8-under 62 in the second round, put up a valiant fight in the final round with a 5-under 65. However, he couldn’t quite edge out Koepka in the playoff, finishing as the runner-up.
Jason Kokrak, Koepka’s Smash GC teammate, also delivered a strong performance at the LIV Golf Greenbrier, finishing in solo third, just one stroke behind the leaders. Kokrak’s consistency throughout the tournament contributed to his team’s overall success.
In the LIV Golf Greenbrier’s team competition, Smash GC, led by Koepka and supported by Kokrak, Talor Gooch, and fill-in John Catlin, took the top spot and the $3 million team prize. Their collective effort outpaced the Ripper team, who finished second, and Legion XIII, who rounded out the top three.
Despite the absence of Graeme McDowell due to a one-event suspension, Smash GC demonstrated their depth and resilience, further establishing themselves as a dominant force in the LIV Golf series.
Another highlight of the LIV Golf Greenbrier was Brendan Steele’s historic albatross on the par-5 17th hole, marking the first in LIV Golf history. Steele holed his second shot from 285 yards with a 4-wood, setting a new record for the longest holed shot on the tour.
His achievement added to the excitement of an already thrilling event, showcasing the unpredictable and high-stakes nature of LIV Golf competition.
