Phil Mickelson doesn’t want to hear from Fred Couples. The legendary golfer claimed that after speaking plenty to Brooks Koepka, the LIV star wanted to return to the PGA Tour. He said he truly believes Koepka wants to come back to the Tour and soon. Mickelson responded and ripped Couples in the process.
Phil Mickelson calls out Fred Couple

Fred Couples made a bold claim about Brooks Koepka. Whether there’s truth to it or not, Phil Mickelson doesn’t believe he should’ve said anything. Via the New York Post, Mickelson went in on Couples, “If it’s not true, he damaged a relationship which he cares about. If it is true he took away Brooks’ control of the timeline and narrative. Either way, this is a low-class jerk move by Fred.”
“I talk to Brooks Koepka all the time,” Couples had said on a radio show. “I love Brooks Koepka, and I’m not going to say anything extra except I talk to him all the time — ‘Where are you playing next? When are you going?’ and all this stuff. He wants to come back. I will say that: I believe he really wants to come back and play the Tour.”
Those comments didn’t sit well with Mickelson. If Koepka does want to come back, then Couples took the air out of his sails by prematurely revealing what would ultimately be a bombshell move for the player and for golf as a whole. As startling as it was when these players initially left, a return would also be a shock at this point.
But if Couples is wrong, then Mickelson said he’s hurt Koepka and damaged a relationship with a player he claims to love. He spread a rumor about someone close to him, and it’s hard for personal relationships to survive something like that.
Mickelson seemingly doesn’t care whether or not Koepka stays or goes back to the PGA Tour. He’s more concerned with that being nobody’s business except his LIV counterpart and certainly not Couples’. Mickelson and Couples have been at odds before especially over LIV Golf, a tour Couples said he just can’t get behind.
