Richard Bland, the 55-year-old LIV Golf star, recently secured his second senior major title, winning the U.S. Senior Open. This remarkable achievement was not just a testament to his skill but also to the significant improvements he has made in his game over the past few years. Bland had much to say about his journey, his growth, and the challenges he has faced.

After his latest victory, Richard Bland was reflective and insightful about his current form and the path he has taken to get there. His thoughtful declarations offer a deep look into the mind of a golfer who has reinvented himself and found success in the latter part of his career.

“I’m a way better golfer than I was back then,” Richard Bland said, comparing his current game to where he was three years ago.

He attributes much of this improvement to the caliber of players he competes against on the LIV Golf circuit.

“To play against Bryson, who won just the other week at Pinehurst, to play against him, to play against Jon Rahm, Cam Smith, D.J., Brooks, they’re the best players in the world. I don’t care what the world ranking says.”

Richard Bland Reflects on His Evolution

Richard Bland’s transition to LIV Golf marked a significant turning point in his career. Competing against some of the top golfers in the world has pushed him to elevate his game.

“If I’m going to compete with those guys, I have to bring my game. I have to. I can’t bring my C game, and it won’t stack up against those. It just elevates my game, and I think it’s done that unbelievably over the last three years,” he said.

Richard Bland’s dedication to improving his game is evident in his recent performances. He won the Senior PGA Championship last month, a victory that granted him entry into the U.S. Senior Open. His victory at Newport Country Club was a testament to his ability to stay composed under pressure and execute when it mattered most.

At the U.S. Senior Open, Richard Bland displayed remarkable resilience and skill. He entered the final round trailing leader Hiroyuki Fujita by five strokes. However, he managed to shoot a 4-under 66, catching Fujita after rain postponed the finish to Monday morning.

Bland’s performance in the playoff was particularly noteworthy. On the fourth playoff hole, his shot from a greenside bunker caught the pin and settled just two inches from the cup, securing his victory.

“To get this one as well, to go two for two, is beyond my wildest dreams,” Richard Bland said. “I was just hoping going into the PGA that I was good enough to contend; I hadn’t played against these guys. But to be here with two majors — I’m at a loss for words at the moment.”

Richard Bland credits his involvement with LIV Golf as a significant factor in his recent success. The opportunity to compete against high-caliber players has not only improved his game but also reignited his passion for golf.

“It’s just made me a better player,” Bland explained. “You’re not always going to be playing your best golf, but I’m the best player I’ve ever been.”

Richard Bland’s journey is a testament to the idea that continuous improvement and adapting to new challenges can lead to remarkable achievements, even later in one’s career. His victories in senior majors have cemented his status as a formidable competitor in the senior golf circuit.

Bland’s thoughtful declarations about his game and improvement offer valuable insights into the mind of a champion. His journey from struggling on the European Tour to winning consecutive senior majors is inspiring. Bland’s story is a reminder that with dedication, hard work, and the right mindset, remarkable achievements are possible at any stage of life.

As Bland continues to compete and challenge himself, fans eagerly anticipate his future endeavors on the golf course. His recent victories have not only established him as a top contender in senior majors but also as a symbol of resilience and continuous improvement.
