Roger Federer, the Swiss tennis maestro and 20-time Grand Slam champion, has recently taken to Instagram to share his latest endeavor: golf. In a video posted to his account, Federer can be seen teeing off on a lush golf course, sporting his signature “RF” logo cap and stylish sunglasses.

The caption read, “Trying to pick up a new hobby. Wish me luck. Any pointers?” This light-hearted request for advice quickly garnered attention from fans and fellow athletes alike, including a notable offer from world No. 1, Nelly Korda.

Roger Federer is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. His career, spanning over two decades, is marked by numerous records and accolades, including 20 Grand Slam titles and a record eight Wimbledon championships. Federer’s graceful playing style, sportsmanship, and longevity have earned him a place in the pantheon of tennis legends.

Federer announced his retirement from professional tennis in September 2022, citing ongoing issues with his knee. His farewell was met with an outpouring of admiration and respect from fans, fellow players, and the broader sports community.

Since retiring, Roger Federer has been exploring new interests and hobbies, with golf being the latest addition to his repertoire.

    Roger Federer’s New Ventures

Roger Federer’s post sparked a flurry of reactions from the sports community. Retired skier Lindsey Vonn and tennis star Carlos Alcaraz were among those who offered their encouragement.

Vonn commented, “Pretty sure you already nailed it!” while Alcaraz humorously asked, “Is there something you are not good at?” However, it was Nelly Korda’s response that stood out.

The accomplished golfer, who has a deep connection to tennis through her family, offered to coach Roger Federer, saying, “Do you need a coach?”

Nelly Korda, the current world No. 1 in women’s golf, is no stranger to the world of tennis. Her father, Petr Korda, won the Australian Open in 1998, and her mother, Regina Rajchrtova, was a successful player on the ITF circuit.

Nelly’s brother, Sebastian Korda, is also a professional tennis player, currently ranked 23rd in the world. Growing up in a family deeply rooted in tennis, Nelly developed a strong admiration for tennis legends like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Korda’s offer to coach Federer is not just a casual comment; it reflects her genuine excitement and respect for the tennis icon. Despite her own busy schedule and recent challenges, including missing the cut at the 2024 US Women’s Open, Korda remains enthusiastic about helping Roger Federer improve his golf game. Her 14 LPGA victories and two major wins make her an ideal mentor for anyone looking to excel in golf.

Roger Federer’s Instagram post received a wave of support and advice from various sports personalities, starting with Nelly Korda’s siblings. Sebastian Korda, simply commented, “Damn,” while her sister, Jessica Korda, praised Federer’s swing as “pure.”

Nelly Korda was not the only golf star to offer advice to Federer. Australian Min Woo Lee left him a similar message, commenting. “Yeah mate, just give me a call, will sort you out.”

Other sports stars who left their impressions of Federer’s swing quality included Andy Murray, Adam Scott, Caroline Wozniacki and Luke Donald. The official accounts of the PGA Tour and DP World Tour offered to “help” improve the quality of the former tennis player’s game, while the LIV Golf account congratulated him on a “solid move.”

Even the Swiss Golf Federation caught Federer’s attention by posting that he is now “ready for the Swiss Golf National Championship.”

Roger Federer’s transition from tennis to golf is a natural progression for an athlete of his caliber. Many retired athletes turn to golf as a way to stay active and competitive while enjoying a more relaxed pace.

Federer’s graceful and precise playing style in tennis is likely to serve him well on the golf course, where technique and finesse are crucial.

Roger Federer’s Instagram post, showcasing his nearly flawless golf swing, suggests that he is already making significant strides in his new hobby. His willingness to seek advice and learn from others, including top golfers like Nelly Korda, reflects his humility and dedication to mastering new skills.

Nelly Korda’s involvement adds a unique and exciting dimension to Federer’s golfing journey. Her expertise, combined with her deep connection to tennis, makes her an ideal mentor for Federer as he navigates this new chapter in his athletic career.

As Federer continues to refine his golf skills, fans can look forward to seeing more interactions and collaborations between these two sports icons.
