Scottie Scheffler has officially reached a milestone that only a handful of golfers have ever achieved—100 weeks as the world’s number one golfer. Among those 100 weeks, 65 were consecutive, a testament to his consistency, skill, and determination.

This feat is all the more impressive given the level of competition on the PGA Tour and the intense pressure that comes with holding the top spot. Scottie Scheffler’s journey to this milestone is intertwined with his extraordinary 2024 season, which has been nothing short of historic.

During his 65-week consecutive reign, Scottie Scheffler dominated the golfing world with a series of victories that cemented his legacy. His streak began in late 2022 and carried through into 2024, during which he added numerous titles to his name and further solidified his place among golf’s greats.

The pinnacle of this streak was his gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, a victory that not only underscored his dominance but also added a prestigious accolade to his already illustrious career.

Scottie Scheffler’s 2024 Season: A Year of Dominance

The core of Scheffler’s incredible year was his performance across various tournaments, where he showcased his prowess and resilience. In 2024 alone, Scheffler secured six PGA Tour wins, a record matched by few and surpassed by even fewer.

Among these victories, his triumph at the Masters stands out, where he captured his second green jacket in just three years. This win placed him in elite company, joining legends like Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only players to win multiple Masters titles before turning 28.

But Scottie Scheffler’s season wasn’t just about the Masters. He also claimed victories at the Players Championship, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and the RBC Heritage, demonstrating his ability to win on a variety of courses and against a diverse field of competitors.

His win at the Memorial Tournament, just weeks after the birth of his first child, was particularly special. It marked his first victory as a father, with his wife Meredith and newborn son Bennett by his side to celebrate the moment.

In June, Scottie Scheffler’s season reached another high point with his win at the Travelers Championship. This victory, his sixth of the season, came in dramatic fashion, as he defeated Tom Kim in a one-hole playoff.

The tournament was not without its challenges, including a bizarre interruption on the final green by protesters. However, Scheffler’s composure and focus saw him through, as he clinched the title and further extended his lead in the FedExCup standings.

Scottie Scheffler’s crowning achievement of 2024 was undoubtedly his gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Competing at the Le Golf National, Scheffler faced intense competition from some of the world’s best golfers, including Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele.

Starting the final round four shots behind, Scheffler’s back-nine surge, highlighted by four consecutive birdies, propelled him to the top of the leaderboard. His final score of 19-under 265 set a new Olympic record, surpassing the previous mark set by Xander Schauffele in Tokyo.

On the podium, with the American flag rising and the national anthem playing, the magnitude of Scottie Scheffler’s accomplishment became clear. He had not only secured a gold medal but had also become the first world number one to win the Olympic golf event. The victory added another layer to his legacy and gave him a moment to reflect on the pride of representing his country on one of the world’s biggest stages.

Scottie Scheffler’s 2024 season will be remembered as one of the most dominant in modern golf history. His ability to win under pressure, maintain his status as the world’s top golfer for 100 weeks, and achieve victories across different events is a testament to his skill and mental fortitude. As he looks ahead, Scheffler remains focused on the present, committed to continuing his work and pushing the boundaries of what he can achieve.

For golf fans and analysts alike, the question now is how long Scheffler can sustain this level of excellence. But if 2024 is any indication, Scottie Scheffler is far from done, and the world will be watching as he continues to carve his name into the annals of golf history.
