The golf world is still awaiting Tiger Woods’ 2025 PGA Tour debut. He was slated to make his 2025 return at the Genesis Invitational, but his mother’s untimely death threw a wrench in his plans.
To this day, he still has yet to play a tournament this year, though he remains likely to compete in the Players Championship this month. With that said, Woods is about to do something he hasn’t done all year long: play real golf on consecutive days.
Tiger Woods set to finally play more than one day at a time
Tiger Woods has not played on the PGA Tour yet, but he’s been a pretty present force for his TGL team. Jupiter Links Golf Club has played five matches, and he’s started four of them. The lone absence was also tied to his mother’s passing.
However, TGL matches are one round. They’re played one evening a week, so Woods has played those rounds and then sat waiting for the next one without playing a tournament over the weekend. The workload of multiple rounds in a row has been Woods’ trouble in recent years, but he’s finally set to make an impact on that.
Woods is playing in the Seminole Pro-Member tournament. He’s played in this exclusive, competitive, one-day tournament before, and he’s back in the field this year. Tomorrow, however, is his TGL team’s final outing barring an unforeseen entry into the playoffs.
Today, Woods will be in the Seminole, and tomorrow, unless something happens today, Woods will be back to try and give his team its last win in order to get into the first-ever TGL playoffs (Jupiter Links needs a New York GC loss tonight).
In doing so, he’ll play golf on two consecutive days for the first time since the PNC Championship in December. Before that, the last time he did that was at the Open Championship in July. Woods played two rounds and missed the cut.
Obviously, TGL doesn’t quite simulate a full round of golfing. There’s no walking the 18 holes and enduring the elements. It’s simulated and indoors, so it’s not as demanding. Still, he has to take a lot of swings one day after playing essentially a tournament round. It’s a big step towards his eventual return to a more frequent schedule.
If Woods does return for the Players Championship in two weeks, he’ll presumably play at least two rounds there, so this back-to-back with the Seminole Pro-Am and the TGL match could be great practice to get him back into the swing of things.
