Fantasy Golf With Majors Challenge: A Fun Way To Watch The PGA TOUR All While Supporting Youth Golf…

I have never been big into fantasy sports. Yeah, I know; I am one of those non-manly men who hasn’t caught onto the craze. I will do a few March Madness pools, but I never really got into the fantasy thing or betting on sports all that much.
Anyone who likes to make a wager or two or is part of a fantasy league knows full well that there is a whole new level of excitement and interest brought into watching whatever sport you are watching when you do.
Last year, I had the opportunity to chat with a fellow PGA Professional friend, Mr. Edmund Woronicz, about a project he has been involved with since its inception. It’s called Majors Challenge, and I’ll tell you what: Because of this, I am hooked on watching golf with much more frequency and interest!
Golf Pools Simplified With Majors Challenge:
Admit it, if you have ever managed a fantasy golf pool, it can suck pretty bad. Using spreadsheets, chasing people down for their entry fee, and updating standings after each round can be a drag.
With Majors Challenge, you can become a commissioner and have complete control over your league’s operations. The Majors Challenge platform allows you to focus on picking your winning team, and the platform will take care of the rest.
One of Majors Challenge’s most significant advantages is the ability to customize your season schedule. Whether you want to skip a week or two or only participate in majors, you can decide which PGA TOUR tournaments your league will participate in.
As commissioner, you have access to a console that gives you tools for managing every aspect of your league. For example, you can change the event type or payouts based on your league members’ preferences.
Another great feature is the live leaderboards, which display PGA TOUR action as it unfolds beside your league’s leaderboard. You can see who has which players and who’s moving up and down the leaderboard.
Plus, you can manage your league, make last-minute changes, and follow your league’s leaderboard and the TOUR leaders all from your mobile device.
Majors Challenge also offers easy communication with your league members. You can leave a broadcast message to everyone or contact individuals right from your commissioner console.
With a robust player archive, visiting other sites for player insights is not necessary. You can access relevant stats to help you pick a winning team.
Managing your league is free, and as a league commissioner, all you pay is $1 for each team entered in an event. Your friends can play for free, or you can set a suggested entry fee.
Additionally, you can opt into the Majors Cup Challenge, which automatically aggregates a season-long leaderboard in a race to become your league’s Cup Champion.
With Majors Challenge, you get a comprehensive and customizable platform that makes managing your fantasy golf pool a breeze. So, you can focus on enjoying the game and the fun competition with your friends.
How to Play Fantasy Golf Through Majors Challenge:
1. Join or Start a League:
You can become the commissioner of your own league or join a friend’s league. Ask your friend to send you an invite to join their league. The commissioner will select the events that your league will participate in during the PGA season.
2. Choose Your Team:
Choose your team of 12 golfers. Golfers are categorized into four groups according to their world ranking.

3. Pick One Alternate for Each Group:
Select one alternate for each group. Your alternate picks will only be used if one of your starters withdraws from the event.
4. Follow Your Friends:
You can easily track your friends’ performance by tagging them in the Members section. You can also collapse the Leaderboard into only the teams you care about.
5. Invite Your Friends:
Fantasy contests are week-to-week with no season-long obligation. We expect most leagues to participate during the four golf majors (Masters, US Open, British Open, PGA Championship) and the Players Championship (the unofficial fifth major), but fantasy tournaments will be available all season long.
Majors Challenge Game Formats…Something For Any Taste
Majors Challenge has several different ways you can set up your league.
Weekly Golf Pools
In a weekly golf pool, participants choose a team of 12 golfers who will be playing in the PGA TOUR event of that week. Golfers are classified into four tiers based on their world golf ranking. Your fantasy score is calculated by adding up the scores of each golfer on your team.
If any of your golfers are eliminated from weekend play, a penalty may be applied to your overall score. The entry fee, payout structure, and other regulations are determined by the league commissioner. You can Click here for the complete rules.
Game Options:
Fixed Entry: In this format, the league commissioner determines the entry fee, and the weekly purse is determined by multiplying the number of teams by the entry amount.
Stroke Play: In this format, a team’s loss is calculated by the number of strokes it trails behind the leading team on the fantasy leaderboard. The weekly purse changes depending on the winner’s performance relative to the rest of the fantasy field. Weekly tournaments are available for all stroke play PGA TOUR events and select LPGA tournaments. Each pool begins with a team selection on Monday and ends on Sunday with a winner.
Season Long Games
Majors Challenge Cup:
This is a season-long leaderboard that aggregates team scores from each weekly tournament in your fantasy season. Think of this contest as the fantasy version of the FedEx Cup. Depending on the rules, the season champion is determined by either the team having the lowest score or the most points through the last event in your fantasy season.
Tournament of Champions:
This is a season-ending golf pool in which participants earn entry by placing at the top of the leaderboard in a weekly tournament. The league commissioner selects the number of places that gain entry into the TOC each week, and the PGA TOUR event serves as the Tournament of Champions. The winner of this event is crowned the season champion.
Other Formats
One-And-Done:
This is a season-long competition in which participants choose a new PGA TOUR player each week. The money that a player earns goes to your season-long total. Once a golfer is chosen, they cannot be picked again. The player with the highest total earnings at the end of the season wins. This game requires patience and strategy, knowing when to pick the best golfers and when and where to find value each week. You can Click here to access the full rules.
Season Draft:
This is a season-long competition where participants draft a team of five golfers and one alternate. Drafts are held offline and typically follow a snake-draft format. The money each golfer earns goes to that team’s season-long total. Teams can substitute their alternate for an active golfer once per season. The team that earns the most money at the end of the season wins. You can Click here to access the full rules.

What Does Little Linksters Do With Money Raised?
This charity pool is part of our ongoing efforts to raise funds for scholarships that will help area youth participate in our group golf programming. We also use scholarship funds to run our summer work-study program, where we hire high school golfers to help coach in our summer camps.
In addition, starting this year, we encourage kids from anywhere in the country to apply for our “My Dream” Scholarship program, which can help offset tournament fees, instruction, equipment, and other related expenses for competitive young golfers.
We launched our “My Dream” Scholarship locally in 2022, and the recipients from the Orlando area received a year’s worth of free instruction, equipment, and job opportunities through our Linksters Academy.
Lastly, this year, we plan to revise our GOALS special needs program and add two more special needs schools to our rotation.
