Pinehurst No. 10 is not just a new addition to the renowned Pinehurst Resort; it’s a masterpiece that intertwines the rich history of the land with the modern spirit of golf. It is the newest addition to one of the world’s most renowned courses with one of the richest histories in the world.

Pinehurst was founded in 1895 and its ultra famous Course No. 2 is the most visited in the world after The Home of Golf, St. Andrews Golf Links. Its glittering service record includes being the only public course to host the Ryder Cup (1951). It also served as home to the PGA Championship (1936), the US Open (1999, 2005, 2014), the US Women’s Open (2014) and the US Amateur (1962, 2008, 2019).

As the newest addition (it opened its doors this Wednesday, April 3), Pinehurst No. 10 brings an influx of freshness and modernity to the resort’s rich history with the most courses in the world outside of China.

Here are five essential things to know about this remarkable course:

    1. A Historical Landscape

Pinehurst No. 10 is built on a landscape that has been shaped over centuries. The course features native wiregrass, rolling hills, and rugged dunes, which are a testament to the area’s geological past and the natural beauty of the North Carolina Sandhills.

    2. Pinehurst No. 10 is Tom Doak’s Vision

The course is designed by the acclaimed architect Tom Doak, known for his minimalist approach that emphasizes the natural contours and features of the land. His design for No. 10 is a homage to the timeless traditions of golf course architecture, seamlessly blending the old with the new.

    3. A Tribute to Nature and Time

Pinehurst No. 10 is described as an 18-hole homage to Mother Nature and Father Time. It’s Pinehurst’s first new course in nearly three decades, and it pays respect to the land’s history, from its ancient origins to its more recent past as a sand mine.

    4. A Unique Golfing Experience

The course is designed as a 7,020-yard par-70 walking course, encouraging players to fully immerse themselves in the serene environment. Caddies are available to enhance the experience, offering insights into the course’s nuances and the best strategies for play.

    5. Future Developments

Pinehurst No. 10 is just the beginning of a broader vision for the resort. Plans for additional amenities, including guest cottages, a new clubhouse, and possibly even a putting course, are in the works, promising to make Pinehurst an even more enticing destination for golf enthusiasts.

Pinehurst No. 10 represents a significant chapter in the evolution of Pinehurst Resort, offering golfers a unique blend of history, nature, and golfing excellence. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a newcomer to the sport, playing a round at No. 10 is sure to be an unforgettable experience. For those looking to explore this new gem, more information can be found on the official Pinehurst website.
