The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has reaffirmed its commitment to professional golf by renewing its sponsorship of two iconic PGA Tour events: the RBC Canadian Open and the RBC Heritage. This announcement has garnered significant attention within the golf community, not only due to the prestige of the tournaments, but also in recognition of it’s pivotal role in their evolution.

The renewal of the sponsorship demonstrates the institution’s continued dedication to the sport, particularly in light of the crucial role financial and organizational stability plays in maintaining the prestige of the PGA Tour.

The report was made by Sports Business Journal’s Josh Carpenter, on his personal X account, where he posted:

“We have some big news to share: RBC has signed one-year renewals for both the RBC Heritage and RBC Canadian Open on the PGA Tour.”

This announcement comes at a pivotal moment for the golf industry, when financial stability and corporate support are more crucial than ever. The contract renewal for 2025, although for a single year, guarantees that both tournaments will remain prominent on the PGA Tour schedule.

This move also serves to reinforce RBC’s presence in a sport in which it has been a consistent and vital sponsor, playing a central role in promoting golf globally.

The Royal Bank, one of Canada’s most prominent financial institutions, has been linked to professional golf for several years. Its involvement in the PGA Tour has enabled the continuity of high-caliber events, ensuring the participation of the best players and attracting fans from around the world.

In a context where mergers and reorganizations have shaken professional golf, the renewal of sponsorship by RBC for 2025 is perceived as a guarantee of stability and continuity for these tournaments.

RBC: A key ally for professional golf

The Royal Bank of Canada is one of North America’s largest financial institutions and has been a leading supporter of professional golf for many years. RBC has been associated with the PGA Tour for over a decade, during which time it has served as the title sponsor of two highly regarded events: the RBC Heritage and the Canadian Open.

    The Canadian Open

A prominent fixture on the PGA Tour schedule, the Canadian Open is one of the most esteemed tournaments in the PGA Tour’s history, with a legacy dating back to 1904. This tournament has been a key event in the evolution of golf over the decades, with some of the sport’s most prominent figures claiming victory.

The Canadian Open has experienced a resurgence under the sponsorship of the Canadian institution, attracting top players and providing an outstanding platform for Canadian talent. The 2025 edition of the Canadian Open is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated, thanks in large part to RBC’s continued support.

This tournament is not only a sporting event, but also a symbol of national pride for Canada. RBC’s involvement ensures that it will remain a mainstay on the PGA Tour calendar.

The Heritage: Tradition and Excellence at Hilton Head

The RBC Heritage, held at the iconic Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina, has been a signature event since its inception in 1969. The Heritage has a distinguished history, featuring champions such as Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. It has become a cornerstone of golf history and remains one of the most prominent tournaments on the calendar.

A look at the full 2025 PGA Tour schedule.

The announcement of the continued sponsorship of the Canadian Open and Heritage also marked the release of the complete PGA Tour schedule for 2025. TheHeritage will retain their privileged position on the schedule, along with eight other featured events, including the Genesis Invitational and the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

RBC’s decision to renew its sponsorship for another year highlights the significance of these tournaments on the PGA Tour schedule and ensures that the tour will be fully sponsored for the seventh consecutive year. However, changes are anticipated for 2026, which could bring new dynamics to the circuit. For now, golf fans can look forward to an exciting and competitive 2025 season, with RBC playing a central role in the action.
