You would think that five consecutive victories would be enough for everyone in the golf world to know Nelly Korda’s name by heart, but that is not the case. Even an announcer of the caliber of Jim Nantz is still unable to correctly name the world’s number one golfer.
During the final round of the RBC Heritage, a PGA Tour event, Jim Nantz took a moment to congratulate Nelly Korda for her incredible win at the Chevron Championship, which was her fifth consecutive victory. However, in the excitement, he mispronounced Nelly Korda’s name, calling her “Kelly Norda”. This slip of the tongue left many golf fans puzzled and quickly became a talking point among the golf community.

The incident happened so fast that at first, many might have thought they made a mistake while listening to the commentator’s announcement. One user took the time to go back to the recording and listen to the audio again; they further took a rather sarcastic take and replicated the same mistake Nantz made and commented:
“I had to rewind to make sure that’s what I heard. Love Nancy James [referring to Jim Nantz], but come on”.
Jim Natnz has not corrected himself or apologized for this mistake. At least as far as we know. The online community was also a bit taken aback and was truly upset by Nantz’s actions. Many questioned why the mistake was made in the first place, given that Korda is a household name in golf, and took the whole incident as disrespect to Nelly Korda.
Golf enthusiast Robert Miller uploaded a mistaken video of Jim Nantz’s commentary. He shared the video on his X (formerly Twitter) account, accompanied with the caption:
“Let me be the first to congratulate Kelly Norda”.
The snippet quickly took over the FYPs of the golf fans, sparking a wave of reactions and discussions about the incident.
Jessica or Nelly Korda?
If you thought the above was wild, know that you only heard the half of it. During the press conference following her big win at the Chevron Championship, a reporter referred to Nelly Korda (to her face) as “Jessica,” mistaking her for her sister.

Nelly took it in the best possible way by laughing it off. But it is still hard to swallow that journalists, supposedly intimately involved in professional golf, are unable to correctly pronounce the name of a player with no less than five consecutive victories at the highest level.
These facts contrast with the position of male players such as Scottie Scheffler, Wyndham Clarx and Billy Horschel, who not only congratulated Nelly Korda, but proved to be perfectly aware of what she has done during the current season. Also with the fact that the Chevron Championship reached its highest ratings in 14 years.
